When an organization "leaks", it is rarely just about reduced efficiency – it strikes directly at the company's profitability.
StrukturSprint™ is a science-based method for organizations looking to move from assessment to concrete action.
StrukturSprint™ is a systematic and organizationally sociologically grounded method that helps organizations understand how their own structure affects the business's ability to function effectively. The method is developed to make these structural conditions visible, measurable, and possible to change. The purpose is to create a clear data foundation showing where problems exist, what they may be linked to, and where the organization should direct its improvement efforts. This creates better conditions for utilizing existing talent, reducing unnecessary organizational friction, and developing the business with greater precision.
StrukturIndex™
As part of StrukturSprint™, the StrukturIndex™ is used to compile and visualize the results of the analysis of your organization. It provides the organization with a concrete metric that can be used as a starting point for change and as a reference point for later follow-up.
Ignoring internal friction and structural issues is expensive. When an organization "leaks," it is rarely just about reduced efficiency – it directly impacts the business's profitability.
Here are three reasons why an investment in our method delivers a fast and clear return on investment (ROI):
Losing talent costs millions.
According to industry calculations, a single bad hire or the loss of a key individual costs between $50,000 and $100,000 in the form of lost production, ramp-up times, and recruitment costs. Our structure sprint costs a fraction of that, but stops the leak for the long term.
Data-driven decisions instead of guesswork.
Many companies spend significant resources on general employee satisfaction surveys or vague management consultants without getting answers as to why problems arise. With our scientific structure index, you get precise data on exactly where the friction is, allowing you to invest your development budget where it does the most good.
High impact in a short time.
We do not lock up your operations in months-long processes. Through our focused 3-week sprint, we minimize your time commitment while maximizing the results. You get a finished action plan to act on immediately, providing an instant impact on the organization's execution power.
The entire process is carried out as a focused 3-week sprint where we move quickly from insight to action.
01 – Mapping the Current State
We familiarize ourselves with your business and its daily routines. Through strategic conversations, surveys, and observations, we create a clear picture of how your organization functions today.
02 – Data-driven Analysis
We compile the information into our structure index to identify where friction occurs and which areas affect the organization's structure, collaboration, and execution power.
03 – Presentation of Insights
The results are compiled into a clear analysis where we pinpoint your strengths, show exactly where the organization is leaking energy or competence, and highlight which areas should be prioritized.
04 – Strategic Collaboration
Together with the management team, we review the results, discuss the insights, and isolate the structural changes required to reach your goals.
05 – Concrete Change and Direction
We conclude the sprint after 3 weeks by delivering an action plan with clear priorities and concrete measures that your business can begin working with immediately to secure your key talent.
For those who want to go deep, find the leaks, and create real change.
Our structure sprint is an intensive and data-driven process where we map your business in 3 weeks. Using our unique structure index, we bring the hidden friction in the organization to light, analyze the problems, and deliver a concrete action plan.
Format: 3 weeks of focused work
Content: Surveys, analysis of the structure index, management workshop & action plan
Results: Clear priorities and concrete measures to streamline operations and retain your key talent
For those who want to start the discussion, get inspired, and understand the basics of structural friction.
An engaging lecture that serves as an eye-opener for management teams, departments, or entire organizations. We also adapt our presentations for universities, lecturing to specific classes and degree programs in fields such as organization, organizational sociology, leadership, and work science. We share scientific insights into why organizations leak talent and how the right structure turns friction into function.
Target Groups: Companies, management teams, and university classes/programs
Format: Half-day or full-day (adapted to your needs)
Content: Interactive presentation with a scientific foundation, concrete examples, and discussion
Results: Increased awareness, a common language around structure, and new perspectives on organizational development
Sociologist and organizational expert Sebastian Herrmann is the founder and creator of StrukturSprint™. The foundation of the business was laid during his academic studies, where the method was developed, tested, and scientifically proven. By combining deep sociological research with practical organizational development, the idea of a unique structure index was born – a tool built to solve one of the business world's most costly problems.
Time and again, we saw organizations lose time, energy, and invaluable key talent completely unnecessarily. Most often, this is not due to the individuals themselves, but rather to hidden, systematic flaws within the organizational structure itself. This is what we call an organization "leaking." To plug these leaks, we created our focused method. We want to help companies stop guessing, start measuring, and quickly transition to a structure that preserves talent and increases business profitability.
We do not believe in protracted, time-consuming consulting processes that fizzle out into nothing. Therefore, we package our expertise into intensive 3-week sprints. We combine Sebastian Herrmann's scientific foundation with an agile and close collaboration with your management team. In this way, we ensure that hidden problems are quickly transformed into concrete, measurable changes in your daily operations.
Whether we are conducting a structure sprint at a growth company or within public administration, or lecturing to the leaders of tomorrow at the university, we always deliver the same thing: scientific precision, clear insights, and immediate execution power.
StrukturSprint™ rests on a solid academic foundation. The method originates from an extensive organizational sociological study of complex work organizations in late-modern society.
The Gap Between Structure and Practice
Within organizational sociology, questions regarding structure, division of labor, and change processes have long been central. Contemporary research and audits show a clear and recurring pattern: the formal structures of organizations rarely align with how the work is actually carried out in practice.
This creates an organizational "gap" – a phenomenon known in sociology as Decoupling, a concept coined by sociologists John W. Meyer and Brian Rowan (1977). When an organization is decoupled, invisible friction, ambiguity, and hidden resource losses occur. The development of modern working life, including a doubling of remote work since 2019 and new complex attendance policies, has further accelerated the need to understand how these structures are actually realized in everyday life.
To measure and systematically identify where and how this gap (decoupling) manifests itself, the study operationalizes four central analytical dimensions of organizational structure. These four dimensions form the basis of our StrukturIndex™:
Role Clarity – How well do employees understand their actual assignments and interfaces?
Decision-making Mandate – Is there structural authority to make the decisions required in practice?
Ownership – Who takes actual overall responsibility when processes are distributed?
Follow-up – How is work measured and evaluated to avoid strategic "castles in the air"?
The empirical investigation of the study was conducted and tested in practice within a public sector setting (municipal health and social care administration) – an environment characterized by highly complex assignments, regulatory demands, and coordination challenges. Because the method has successfully systematized and solved structural problems in such a challenging sector, it is fully scalable and applicable to both the private business sector and public administration.
